Area Law Enforcement
Around fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau close to Frankfurt, according to police.
Vehicles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Police state they were notified late on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a swastika, they added.
Police then discovered numerous other vandalized automobiles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.
Nazi symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation banning the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Law enforcement state early analysis suggest the liquid was likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; authorities are currently not aware of any harm in relation with the event," they stated.
Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have asked to the public for details.
An important official stated the attack made him without words and had to be solved promptly.
"This event hits the center of Hanau and reopens the wounds of the extremist violent incident five years ago," he stated on online, mentioning the killing of nine victims by a assailant focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
