Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one championships have been won on hard courts

A comeback Medvedev secured his first championship for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the big events and suffering a meltdown at the New York tournament.

His unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently advanced in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship since the Italian tournament and initial on a hardcourt since March of the previous year.

The win also signifies he has won 21 titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," said ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter my daughter, because the first title I got when my older daughter Alisa was delivered was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had been defeated in his past six title deciders, comprising in the German tournament earlier this year.

His retrieving play style and frequent outbursts on court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

But the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and play positively, backed up by an better serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the challenging opponent, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to go ahead.

Both players swapped breaks in the second set before the challenger, striving for his maiden ATP Tour title, took control to force a decider.

The opponent rescued 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner secured the title with a shot at the front of the court, with Moutet unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
